I know what it means to struggle as a child. At the age of twelve I was placed in foster care, and after three difficult years in school, I quit school and took a full-time job as a “busgirl” at the Carson Nugget. At 16 I was legally emancipated, and at twenty-one I became a single mom. That was hard. But I knew my child’s future depended on me, so I buckled down and completed my GED at Western Nevada Community College.
Next, I earned a cosmetology degree, and that began a journey that led to my building and operating a successful salon/vintage clothing business for many years in California. Like so many others, I felt more and more out of step with the leftist agenda in California so in 2016, my husband, Tad, and I decided to come home to Nevada.
I currently own and operate a salon/vintage clothing store in Topaz Ranch Estates. I am very concerned about the direction of education in our country, our State and in our county. I have studied the situation at length and I see the evidence of a concerted effort to push the progressive "woke" agenda in Douglas County Schools. I am compelled to run for school board because children are in harms way and we need to protect them.
